They met on a plane. Just like in the movies. And Alejandro knew, already from that flight, that she was the one. Now they have a beautiful boy together, and are expecting a second child later this year.

Heidi jokes about this day as being her “second wedding, but with the same bride and same groom“. That’s because Alejandro is Bolivian, and they already had one wedding in Bolivia a few months earlier. This day however, was a bit different. With pastel colours, peonies, an elegant minimalist dress (very Scandinavian I would say!), and a SwedishFinnish wedding celebration.

For me personally, it was real special to be documenting this wedding. I met Heidi some 8 years ago when she was a bridesmaid at one of the first weddings I photographed in Finland when I moved here. We befriended of Facebook, but did not stay in contact throughout the years. But Facebook did show me photos of her Bolivian wedding, and I admit I instantly felt a mix of both happiness of her, and sadness that I wasn’t covering her wedding. Because for me it is always so extra special when I document weddings of people I’ve met at past weddings. So, naturally, when she got in touch a few months later telling me about her plans for a second celebration in Finland, I was overjoyed. It was an honour to meet Heidi and Alejandro’s families and friends, and spend the afternoon documenting their special day.
