ALEXANDRA + OSKARI

Alexandra and Oskari are a wonderful couple I had the honour to meet and document. They are adventurous, outdoorsy, wonderfully kind and considerate, and always surrounded by warm hearted family and friends. I had the most amazing time getting to know them and being present at their wedding. And I deeply hope we will meet again.

Finland has only a handful of restored castles (and roughly another ten are in ruins). One of them is the medieval Häme Castle in Hämeenlinna. When Alexandra and Oskari wrote me about their plans to get married at Häme Castle, I knew their wedding was going to be different.

The entire wedding took place on the castle’s grounds. However, Alexandra and Oskari used different locations throughout the day, making the most out of this beautiful castle. The day started with a “first look” inside the upper rooms of the castle. We photographed in the king’s hall, in the church hall and in the queen’s room. Afterwards, the ceremony took place in the castle’s gun tower, Tykkitorni. The bridal party took part in the intimate ceremony which was held at the bottom of the tower, while the guests watched from above.

After the ceremony, the guests greeted the couple in the inner courtyard. The party continued in the banquet hall. At the end of the evening, when the visiting hours for the castle ended, and the dancing took place in one of the ground floor “living quarters” rooms.
