Thailand Honeymoon Session on the Beach

One of my best experiences taking wedding portraits last summer was at Raluca and Lucian’s wedding. So naturally, they wanted more. As I knew they were planning to spend their honeymoon in South-East Asia later in the winter, we planned to meet in Thailand for a honeymoon session. The first day was one of adventure: boat trip, cave exploring and kayak paddling in the Phang Nga National park. After that, we spent two more days together at The Paradise Koh Yao, a private beach on Koh Yao Noi, with magnificent views and perfect palm tree beach. A tropical luxury getaway. A bay with the perfect sunrise view.

Wowie zowie. These are fab.

Absolutely beautiful. I think more couples should do honeymoon sessions. We did one and it was so nice and relaxed compared to the wedding day hustle and bustle.

the second image is just gorgeous. also, images no. 28 I just LOVE the bride portrait on the left. very compelling image of her. the very last image also has great movement in it. and last but not least and quite possible my favorite from the entire set is this one: https://mariahedengren.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/Raluca-Lucian-Day2-042.jpg

The light…the romance…those portraits under the tree! Gorgeous!

BEAUTIFUL! Wow .. love the diversity Maria!!

Beautiful work, I love the ones in the water! :)

That last shot is so money. This whole session was absolutely beautiful but that last one… intense!

Oh how divine, such an awesome location. Love the last light images

Awesome Maria!!

Your photos are amazing and they are so beautiful! Congrats!

Wow, I really like this. Especially the light in the last part of set drives me crazy!

Wow, great photos. That last shot is amazing!!!

These were all stunning! But that last frame, WOW!

Breathtaking work! I love so many of them. The last frame is beautiful.

I loved all of them, but that last image floored me! You are such an amazing and talented photographer.

WOW. This set is absolutely incredible!

I very very much like the mood you usually capture in your photos. So fragile, so gentle.

However, I often wonder, why are your B/W pictures so grey? Do they turn grey when you upload them or is it just your “style”? I’d prefer them true B/W. Eg. here the last picture would be so much more powerful with BLACK in it. This grey makes it just… dirty. And sad.

Hei Sirpa, and thanks for the comment.

I think what you mean is that you prefer images with more contrast. If you look through my portfolio, my style is more soft and emotional.

I actually remember spending a lot of time with this particular image. And I did try more contrast on it. The result was very cool, I can not deny it. As an image on its own, it changes the look completely, giving it a strong “fashion” direction, and making it look like a magazine cover.

But for me, this image is not about that. It is about a real couple just being themselves, not pretending to be fashion models. And somehow, yes, the “grey” as you call it brings more or the sand and the heat and the real mood of this evening.
