Heta and Mikko planned an intimate vintage-modern wedding at Villa Promenade in Ruissalo, Turku. It was a beautiful Nordic summer day. Specifically, the evening light dragged for hours, and the sunset was astonishing. I loved every second of Heta and Mikko’s wedding, and in fact, I am stoked to have documented their day!

The style of this wedding is simple, with a monochromatic color palette and mid-century modern designs. The day felt so natural, relaxed, and uncomplicated, with slow-paced program, dear friends, and delicious food.

Getting Ready at Home

Most couples get ready in a hotel room. And while hotel rooms can be really awesome, they are often impersonal. But this intimate wedding needed a more personal, warm touch. And so, Heta chose something different: she used her sister’s modern apartment to get ready at. Meanwhile, the groom got dressed in the home of one of his groomsmen. I especially loved how personal these spaces were, featuring wall art, plants, and even a cat.

Mikaelinkirkko Vihkiminen

Firstly, the ceremony took place at St Michael’s Church, a neogothic red brick cathedral in Turku. Its interiors are rich in Jugend ornamentation,  styled with motifs from Finnish nature and traditional Christian symbolism. 

Villa Promenade Häät | Juhlatilat Ruissalossa

Villa Promenade in Ruissalo provided a perfect setting for Heta and Mikko’s intimate wedding. The venue has gorgeous interiors, while the views from the windows and terrace are incredibly beautiful, facing the sea and Ruissalo National Park. The high ceiling rooms and large windows provide a beautiful dinning atmosphere. The light inside is amazing, and such a treat to get to work with. My favorite feature are the mid-century modern chairs.

The space was pampered by Kukka Fiori, however, all decor elements were kept clean and simple. The space coordinated perectly with Heta’s modern vintage wedding dress by Laura Hyvi Bridal.

This is the first wedding I photographed at Villa Promenade. However, I very much hope it will not be the last! Because this venue is so lovely and located in the most awesome surroundings.
