Bee and Abe are a warm-hearted, fun couple from Australia. Zanzibar was one of many stops in their long elopement adventures in Africa and Europe. This gorgeous island was also the place they decided to celebrate their wedding with a photo session on the beach.

Sunrise Destination Wedding Session in Zanzibar
This day was a dream. We started at the TUI Blue Bahari Zanzibar hotel at sunrise. This five star luxury resort is located on the north east coast of Zanzibar, in Pwani Mchangani.
I had previously visited Pwani Mchangani a few years back, and I fell in love with this lovely little Zanzibari town. The sunrises here are sublime. The colours are just like in the movie “Life of Pi”: warm shades of peach reflecting over the deep turquoise water. The sand is perfectly white, yet at sunrise it seems pink.
In the afternoon, we moved a little further north, on a beach overlooking the exclusive Mnemba Island. It rained heavily as we drove to that beach, but just as we arrived the rain stopped. The photos we took there are my favorites: the contrast between the deep grey-blue shy and the milky white sand, and the fabulous light that comes just after a storm.

Finally, we took a small boat to Mnemba Island and explored a remote sand bank. Mnemba Island atoll might be the clearest water in the world. The sand bank that forms at low tide on the northwest side of the Mnemba Island is my favourite spot around Zanzibar. I discovered it during my previous trip there, and I was excited to share it with Bee and Abe.

I’ve traveled to East Africa a few times already, with both photography projects as well as architecture / urban planning projects. I even know a few words in Swahili. I’d love to visit those lands again and document your day.
Holy moly, they just get better and better. Absolutely love this vibe!
