When a Dutch couple dreamed of a cozy, intimate wedding in the heart of Finnish Lapland, they chose the scenic village of Ylläs as their destination. With snow-covered landscapes, reindeer farms, and the magic of a Northern evening ceremony, they created a beautiful celebration that truly felt like their own. Here’s a glimpse into this memorable day for this lovely couple and their two adorable little girls.
A Magical Ceremony Under the Northern Sky
Aukje and Benno envisioned a quiet, meaningful ceremony surrounded by Lapland’s natural beauty. Opting for an Airbnb tucked into the tranquil surroundings of Ylläs, they organized everything themselves, including booking a magistrate for an evening ceremony. As their photographer, I had the privilege of capturing this beautiful occasion, making sure every moment felt as special as it truly was. The couple’s self-organized approach gave the day a relaxed, personal feel – a celebration focused on love, family, and nature.
As evening approached, the ceremony took place with only the gentle glow of the setting sun illuminating the snowy landscape. This intimate setting brought a quiet, profound atmosphere to their vows, with just their two little girls and nature as witnesses. The soft light added a magical touch to the photos, highlighting the couple’s deep connection and the beauty of this special moment.
A Joyful Reindeer Farm Experience for the Girls
To add a touch of fun and adventure, I helped arrange a reindeer feeding experience for the couple and their daughters. The little girls’ eyes lit up as they interacted with the reindeer, feeding and gently petting these calm, curious animals. Their joy and wonder became some of the most heartwarming photos of the day, bringing a playful spirit to the serene winter landscape.
