Häät Italiassa | Destination Wedding in Cortona, Italy

Meeri and Niko are a Finnish couple who planned a destination wedding in Cortona, Italy. Cortona is the charming town in Toscana, Italy. In fact, the movie Under the Tuscan Sun was filmed here, and it is not hard to see why. Firstly, it is soaked in history having been part of the Etruscan territories. Secondly, it is rich in Renaissance art and architecture. Furthermore, it rests on a hilltop overlooking a valley filled with olive gardens. The views are therefore spectacular, especially at sunset.

Meeri and Niko’s destination wedding in Italy took place in a farmhouse villa just outside of Cortona. However, because the Tuscan sun is so bright and warm at midday, the ceremony and celebrations started only in the late afternoon. Therefore, we had time to explore Cortona with Meeri and Niko and take the wedding portraits there. This was a great choice, because Cortona offers so many amazing spaces. I am stoked about the images we created there. Additionally, the town stone walls provided the perfect shade from the hot Tuscan sun.

Tuscany Wedding Venues Cortona Italy | Agriturismo Villa Tuscan Farmhouse Wedding

Italy offers many wonderful Tuscany Wedding Venues, but Meeri and Niko wanted a relaxed setting for their day and decided on renting an Agriturismo Villa close to Cortona Italy. I loved how chill this location was. And perfect for bringing in family and friends for a short vacation in Tuscany.

Meeri and Niko married in front of a small Tuscan church close to their venue just before sunset. Immediately after the ceremony, they returned to the villa walking along a path lined with the iconic Tuscan Cypress trees. It was a perfect grand entrance moment, providing some of my favourite images of the day. The celebrations then started with Prosecco and antipasto. After the cocktail hour, the guests moved to the garden where they enjoyed a delicious Italian dinner. Dea Party did a wonderful job creating a charming dinner setting and their food was a real Italian dinning feast.
